Abia at 30 PDP chieftain scores Ikpeazu State Assembly high on development

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sir Innocent Nwachukwu has congratulated Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State and the Honorable Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji and the entire people of Abia State on the auspicious occasion of the 30th anniversary of the State.

DAILY POST reports that Abia was created on 27th August, 1991 under the military administration of Retired Major General Ibrahim Badamosi Babaginda.

A statement issued to journalists in Umuahia, the state capital, on Thursday, noted that Abia has recorded enormous progress and development in every facet of governance despite myriads of challenges bedevilling Nigeria ranging from dwindling economy and insecurity.

Nwachukwu also noted that Abia at 30 years as well as being God’s own state, has achieved peace and stability, which he attributed to the present government’s prioritization of the security of lives and property of her citizenry and support for security agencies.

He stated that the effective security architecture of the State as initiated and consolidated by the current three arms of government in Abia has ensured inflow of local and foreign businesses, especially in Aba and Umuahia, making the two major cities, the destination for investments, devoid of criminal harassment and intimidation as witnessed in most states.

Nwachukwu further said the present leaders steering the affairs of the state at all levels have deepened democracy in Abia through their visionary leaderships that have ushered in massive infrastructural development, pointing out the ongoing establishment of Enyimba Economic city which has encouraged small and medium scale business enterprises, the massive construction and rehabilitation of roads which has equally given every nook and crannies of the state a facelift.

He also pointed out that Abia has equally be given facelifts through modern and mechanized agriculture where the citizens of the state have embraced farming for self-dependency and survival, and as well as reducing unemployment and restiveness by the teeming youths of the state.

The Party Stalwart commended the Abia State House of Assembly led by the exceptional Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Chinedum Orji for the attraction of the peoples-oriented projects scattered in Umuahia city and beyond, particularly the ongoing construction of mini-stadium, the attraction of the construction and rehabilitation of roads, empowerment of the less privileged youths, facilitation of employment of indigent citizens into federal and state workforces, training of constituents in ICT, the building of residential houses to the widows and widowers etc.

He further applauded the Speaker for the existing stability, harmony and cooperation between the state assembly and the executive arm which according to him, was brought through the successes recorded by Governor Okezie Ikpeazu-led administration in all aspects of governance in Abia State.

Nwachukwu who used the opportunity to thank God Almighty for seeing Abia through in the last 30 years of her creation, said that the state has attained the status of adulthood, expressing optimism that Abia was heading for more greatness in its growth and development.
