Tragedy struck in Ondo State following the death of two commercial motorcyclists, popularly known as okada riders.
The okada riders lost their lives after they were swept away by flood caused by a heavy downpour.
The incident happened in the Oka axis area of Ondo town, headquarters of Ondo West Local Government.
One of the deceased identified as Aderemi, was said to be the Chairman of the Amalgamated Commercial Tricycle and Motorcycle Owners, Repairers and Riders Association of Nigeria (ACOMORAN) in Ayeyemi area of Ondo town, while the other victim’s identity was yet to be known.
With the lifeless bodies of the two victims found in the Oka area of the town, the torrential rainfall also wreaked havoc in the town as properties were destroyed.
However, one person was lucky by the whisker as he was rescued from being swept away by the flood.
Following the incident, residents of the community expressed their anger over what they described as repeated flooding in some parts of the town.
According to some of the residents, the town had been thrown into mourning following the death of the two bike men and the havoc caused by the flood.
